Hyundai Sonata Hybrid is Finalist for 2011 Green Car of the Year Award

The 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid has been named as a finalist for the 2011 Green Car of the Year award by Green Car Journal. Every year, five finalists are considered for the prestigious award. The award is an honor that recognizes environmental leadership in the auto industry and the fuel-efficient vehicles that show it. The winner will be announced on November 18 at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

Those who are considered finalists are proof positive that the auto industry is trying to rise to the challenge of providing vehicles that are safer for the environments and pass the strict fuel economy laws that have been passed, while still giving customers the kinds of vehicles that they want. Those who are finalists are the ones who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to meet the requirements and customer expectations.

The vehicles that are considered for the reward employ technologies and fuels that try to raise the bar for environmental performance. This includes hybrids, high efficiency gasoline internal combustion, electrics, advanced diesel, and vehicles that use alternative fuels.
