Honda Statement on Recall

About 10,800 late model year 2010 to 2011 Accord and 2011 Pilot vehicles will be recalled in the United States due to a potential front suspension failure.

The machinery used to tighten the spindle nuts located on the front axles of both vehicles has a potential problem. Another problem lies in the damper attachment bracket bolts on the Pilot. Both of these problems could cause the front suspension of a small number of Pilot and Accord vehicles to fail. The problem has been identified as a software glitch used for the equipment at the Alabama plant.

Of you own one of the affected vehicles, you will receive notification. You are to bring your vehicle to a Honda dealership for an inspection and if you own an Accord, the spindle nuts will be replaced. If you own a Pilot, the bracket bolts will be replaced and so will the spindle nuts if necessary. You can also call Honda or go online to find out more.

New Features for the 2011 Honda Fit

Pricing has been revealed for the 2011 Honda Fit and the car pretty much hasn't changed. It's still a versatile and affordable subcompact. But there are some changes and they are ones that are worth taking notice of.

Some of the changes involve the safety features on the Fit. All 2011 Fit models will come with Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA). This is excellent because it will give drivers more control as they drive and more stability, keeping the vehicle from crashing and rolling over. It also makes the 2011 Fit be compliant with the 2012 safety requirements the federal government will require. This also means that the Fit is a step up from the Civic, because to get the VSA in a Civic, you have to upgrade to the EX-L package.

Surprisingly, Bluetooth connectivity and satellite radio compatibility are not including on the standard fit. Yet features such as cruise control are. Either way, the 2011 Fit should find a good market and those who want the base model will probably not mind not having Bluetooth or satellite radio.

2011 Final Year for Honda Element

The Honda Element's 2011 year will be the final year of production. The functional and innovative crossover utility vehicle was introduced as the Honda Model X, in its concept form, at the 2001 North American International Auto Show. The Element has practically created it's own functional class. For outdoor enthusiasts, pet owners, and small businesses, it was an instant favorite.

However, after a long run, Honda owners have drifted towards other vehicles. Namely the CR-V, which is both comfortable and versatile. While the Element provided a good vehicle, it also proved something very important: that thinking inside the box can provide ultimate functionality. Box designs were made cool by the Element, and those who own an Element or who liked it still are enjoying the unique styling and versatility it brought into being, whether with an Element or with another vehicle of similar design.

2011 Honda Insight Has New and Improved Features

Honda has long been the industry leader in making hybrid vehicles that people can afford, love to drive, and that are good for the environment. In fact, Honda has won the "Greenest Automaker" award from the Union of Concerned Scientists for the fifth time in a row, meaning that Honda had led the way in making vehicles that have low smog forming and greenhouse gas emissions for the last decade.

Honda isn't letting up with the new 2011 Insight. The Insight is extremely affordable, with the base model starting at just $18,200 (plus a $750 destination fee). The Insight comes with standard features it didn't have before, such as remote entry, cruise control, wheel-mounted audio controls, and much more. Sales Increase for American Honda in November

November was a very good month for American Honda. American Honda sold 89,617 vehicles in November, which was an increase of 16.1 percent. This percentage was based on daily selling rate. The year-to-date sales for American Honda reached 1,100,864. This is an increase of 5.9 percent over last year and is based on the daily selling rate.

The Honda division alone had sales in November of 78,899, 15.9 percent more than last year. The Honda Accord was the top-selling vehicle of the month and 19,025 Accords were sold, which was an increase of 5.8 percent. After the Accord was the CR-V, which sold 18,263 in an increase of 25.4 percent and the Civic was third with sales of 16,562, an increase for the Civic of 16.3 percent. The newly released 2011 Odyssey is continuing to see a warm welcome, and in its second month on market has sold 8,805, up a total of 31.7 percent. Honda light trucks saw a sale increase of 24.7 percent and sales of 38,802 vehicles. Car sales were a total of 40,097, which was an increase of 8.5 percent.

2011 Honda Accord Sedan

The 2011 Honda Accord Sedan is a vehicle that has been trusted for years. You can choose from several different engines and trim levels. The in-line 4-cylinder engine has the choices of the LX, LX-P, SE, EX or EX-L trims. The V-6 engine gives you the option of the EX V-6 or the EX-L V-6 trims. 2011 Honda Accord Sedan Earns 5 Star Safety Rating

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has redone the way they test vehicles. The tests are more stringent and use a new concept called the Overall Vehicle Score, part of the federal government's New Car Assessment Program (NCAP). 2011 models are the first to be put through the tests, and it is meant to be a help to new car shoppers. The Overall Vehicle Score combines the results from frontal crash test, rollover-resistance tests, and side crash tests into a single rating, from one to five stars.

For the first time, crash test dummies are both male and female. Frontal crash safety tests now use a small female dummy in the front passenger seat and a male as normal in the driver's seat. Side-crash tests include the side-barrier test that has been used previously where a moving barrier hits a still car at an angle. Added to that is the new side-pole test where a moving vehicle hits a stationary pole. Again, for the first time female dummies are used and the dummy is in the back of the vehicle.

The 2011 Honda Accord Sedan has earned a 5 star rating as the Overall Vehicle Score, the best score a vehicle can possibly achieve. The Accord is one of just six vehicles to achieve the score, and the first to get five stars in all categories - rollover, side crash, and frontal crash.

All-new Honda Electric Vehicle Concept Debut

Everyone is buzzing about electric vehicles. If you don't know, an electric vehicle is exactly what it sounds like. These vehicles run on electricity. Charging stations allow people on the go to charge up the battery so that they can keep going. You can also plug in your vehicle at home, charging it in your garage while you sleep. These vehicles are better for the environment because they do not put off fumes like gasoline powered vehicles do, and they also put off less noise pollution.

Honda is very responsible where the environment is concerned, and the company has worked hard to try and not only prove they are environmentally responsible, but that they also are leaders in green technology.

An all-new electric vehicle concept will be unveiled at the 2010 Los Angeles auto show on November 17. The unveiling is scheduled to take place at 1:20 PM PST. President and CEO of Honda Motor Co., Ltd Takanobu Ito and American Honda Motor Co., Inc, executive vice president John Mendel will be the keynote presenters.

Honda Manufacturing Plant in Indiana Goes Green

Located in Greensburg, Indiana, Honda Manufacturing of Indiana, LLC (HMIN) got the LEED Green Building Certification for the Welcome Center. This is the ninth of Honda's North American facilities to receive LEED certification since the year 2008.

LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and is a rating system for various types of buildings. It is awarded by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI). It is a recognition of green building practice and performance globally. Located in Decatur County, HMIN is the first company to receive this recognition.

There are six categories that the Welcome Center was evaluated in. The categories are Water Efficiency, Innovative Design, Sustainable Site, Energy & Atmosphere, Indoor Environmental Quality, and Materials & Resources. The Welcome Center includes shower facilities and bicycle storage for associates, lumber from sustainable forests, and 100 percent green power was purchased. There is also fuel-efficient vehicle parking in the lot for visitors and campus-wide recycling.

The plant was built two years ago with the environment in mind. There are seven lakes on the campus, as well as two water quality ponds, and the facility is a zero-waste facility. Every bit of waste the facility makes is either reused or recycled; nothing goes to the landfill. Trees and earthen enhancements provide a natural buffer between the plant and those in the Greensburg area.

American Honda Sales Up In October

October was a very good month for American Honda Motor Company, Inc. The company sold 98,811 vehicles . This is an increase of 19.8 percent on the daily selling rate. Year to date sales have reached 1,011,247, which is an increase of 5.1 percent over last year.

The Honda Division alone had an increase of 20.2 percent in in October, selling 87,040 vehicles. The top selling Honda? The Accord, with an increase in sales of 8.8 percent, totaling 24,344. After the Accord was the CR-V and the Civic. The CR-V had an increase in sales of 19.4 percent, selling 18,040 vehicles. The Civic sold 17,121 vehicles and enjoyed an increase of 11.9 percent. The 2011 Odyssey has only been on the market for a month, and the model line has seen an increase of 52.2 percent. The redesign was an excellent choice for Honda, because it seems that people have not only taken notice, but are falling in love with the mini-van all over again.

Another area that the Honda Division saw an increase in sales? Light trucks. The sale of light trucks has increased 37.8 percent and 41,463 were sold in October.

New Honda Electric Vehicle

Carmakers are finally recognizing the need for vehicles that are less polluting than traditional gas powered cars. The government is also recognizing that need, offering tax breaks to those who purchase these vehicles. 2011 Civic GX - Powered by Natural Gas

The 2011 Honda Civic GX runs on compressed natural gas and is usually targeted to fleet and government customers. Honda is now going to allow customers who live in Utah, Oklahoma, California and New York to purchase the natural gas powered Civic GX from authorized dealers. Because the emissions put off by the Civic GX are so low, buyers can qualify for $4,000 worth of federal tax credits as the government continues to promote new fueling infrastructures and clean, alternative fuel vehicles.

The Civic GX has a 4 cylinder engine that produces 113 horsepower at 6300 rpm. According to the EPA, the Civic GX has a good fuel economy - 24/36 miles per GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent). The maximum fuel tank capacity is 8.0 GGE.

Standard equipment is a 5-speed automatic transmission, cruise control, power windows and doors, keyless entry, AM/FM/CD player with MP3 and WMA capabilities, and a multi function center console. You also get safety features such as the occupant position detection system, front airbags that are duel stage, anti-lock brakes, and more.

This vehicle, built in the USA, is the only one of its kind made in America. It's built at Honda's facility in Greensburg, Indiana.

2011 Honda Ridgeline

The new 2011 Honda Ridgeline is a pickup truck that is truly unique in its class. The half-ton truck can carry five passengers and not only is it roomy and comfortable, but it also is very capable. The truck has a maximum tow rating of 5,000 pounds and a payload rating of a half-ton. There are also unique features like an in-bed trunk and independent front and rear suspension.

The Ridgeline has four doors and is powered by a V-6 engine that delivers 250 horsepower. 2010 Honda Fit

The 2010 Honda Fit is an excellent vehicle for anyone who wants something that is affordable while still being powerful. Is your child heading off for college? 2011 Honda Pilot

The all new 2011 Honda Pilot is a SUV unlike any other. It's very affordable, and prices start at just $28,045. The most expensive model is just $40,395, which is cheaper than many of the SUVs that are made by competitors. You can choose front wheel drive or four-wheel drive and you have a selection of trims: LX, EX, EX-L, and Touring.

The standard features include a 3.5-liter, 24-Valve SOHC i-VTEC V-6 engine, 250 horsepower at 5700 rpm with 253 lb-ft at 4800-rpm. The SUV includes a variable cylinder management, hill start assist, advanced compatibility engineering body structure and excellent safety features like the three-row side curtain airbags with rollover sensor. Breathe easier with the front and rear air-conditioning with air-filtration system.

The 4WD EX-L adds and replaces some features. With this trim you get the Bluetooth HandsFreeLink, so you can talk while driving in safety. You also get the the Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System. The system has voice recognition, off-road tracking, and a rearview camera. 512-watt AM/FM/6-Disc In-dash premium audio system with 10 speakers, including a subwoofer and a USB audio interface so you can listen to your MP3s.

The 2WD EX-L has the same navigation system as the 4WD and the hands free Bluetooth system. It also has a programmable multi-Information Display and Power tailgate with Lift-up glass hatch. The 2nd row has integrated sunshades and you again have the USB audio interface. You also have the Honda DVD rear entertainment system with 115 volt power outlet and if you want 4WD there is a variable torque management system.
